PRACTICE
STAFF
ADMINISTRATIVE
STAFF
Our practice manager
is Mrs Madeline Heggarty. She is responsible for the overall smooth running of
the practice. Mrs Heggarty will be able to help you with any non-medical or administrative
aspects of your health and treatment. We have six other administrative personnel
- receptionists, medical secretaries, data input clerk, notes summariser and an assistant practice
manager. All these ladies have undergone training either in-service or through
the auspices of AMSPAR, the medical administrators’ professional body.
They are therefore ready to help you. We hope you will feel able to make good use of their
skills, thus enabling us to provide you with the best possible service. All our
administrators are taught to keep all information held regarding our patients
in strictest confidence.
PRACTICE NURSES
We have two practice nurses available by appointment:
Susan Edwards RGN
Nurse Edwards runs clinics that monitor the health of people with diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and heart disease. She is available by appointment during surgery hours and her many tasks include taking blood samples, spirometry, general health advice, travel advice and immunisation, childhood vaccinations, cervical smears, dietary advice and health checks.
Helen Maddox RGN
Nurse Maddox runs clinics that monitor the health of people with diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and heart disease. She is available by appointment during surgery hours and her many tasks include taking blood samples, general health advice, travel advice and immunisation, childhood vaccinations, dietary advice and health checks.
We have a healthcare assistant who is also available by appointment:
Emma-Louise Talbot HCA
Her duties include blood tests, blood pressure and new patient medicals.
ATTACHED STAFF
We work closely with
all members of our primary health care team particularly with our community nurses,
health visitors and midwives, all of whom see patients at either surgery.
DIETICIAN
A dietician from the Primary Care
Trust attends surgery each month to see patients referred by the doctor.
PRACTICE PHARMACEUTICAL ADVISOR
The Trust also provides a pharmaceutical advisor to the practice. Her job is to assist the doctors in monitoring their prescribing and to provide advice to patients where required.
COMMUNITY PSYCHIATRIC NURSES
These nurses are available to support
patients suffering from emotional problems and mental illness. Service is available
by referral from one of the doctors.
GRADUATE MENTAL HEALTH WORKER
We have a graduate mental health worker who sees our patients via referral from any of the doctors. She has clinics every week at the surgery and sees patients at individual appointments.
She can advise on self-help material and offer her professional advice, counselling and help.
